La Hubert Arbes Cyclosportive, June 20-23 2008

£185 per person (maximum 8)

Hosted by former Tour de France racer Hubert Arbes, this well-organised cyclosportive is a great opportunity to test yourself on the roads made famous by the TdF.  


The main event is 159 km, traversing the Col du Tourmalet and Col du Soulor, with 3,970 m of climbing.  The shorter La Petita is over 107 km but still takes in the Tourmalet and 1,896 m of climbing.

Friday 20th June

Meet at Pau airport. Riders  have the option of assembling their bikes and riding back, following the first section of the TdF stage 10 Pau-Hautacam route.   The rest of the group and the luggage will be transferred to the accommodation.   After arrival, there is the possibility to recce the first half of the course by bike or car.

Welcome aperatif in the evening, followed by BBQ on the terrace at Cami de Bidale.

Morning recce of second half of the course, for those attempting the full course.  Day of relaxation and preparation,  with some easier local riding. 

Sunday 22nd June

The big day.  Energising breakfast and departure from Cami de Bidale to arrive in good time for the start, less than 10km away.  At 8am, the riders set off!

After the race, refreshments and prize-giving followed by the riders' meal.

Transfer to Pau airport.

TRAVEL

The package includes transfers to and from Pau airport, served by Ryanair.  Please contact us for information on transfers from other airports.

CYCLING NOTES

Threre are timing chips for all riders.  The sweep bus will run at 18km/h. 

Riders will need:

  • A medical certificate less than 3 months old
  • Bike, shoes and helmet
  • All weather cycle clothing available for mountain passes 

INSURANCE
