At Monitran we manufacture a range of accelerometers for water and waste applications, including the MTN/1100W and MTN/1186W waterproof accelerometers, which are designed for use at high pressures and at depths of up to 100m. Where the MTN/1100W has been installed it is normally fed back to the surface and then connected into a switch box (MTN/3000 Series) enabling a data collector to be used. The switch boxes are normally mounted outside, they are sealed to IP65 and each box is supplied with a ‘custom label’ indicating plant location and measurement point reference. Where the MTN/1186W has been used the cable is fed back to the surface and connected to a switch box that so have terminals for the 4-20mA loops from the SCADA or PLC systems used on site. This enables on-line broadband velocity readings to be taken and trended either locally or remotely, and when the 4-20mA signal changes further investigation can be undertaken. Another option is to connect the sensors to the MTN/6000 Protection System to give full local protection.
In Pumping Stations the MTN/1100CQ and MTN/1100TCQ have been used in conjunction with switch boxes. Looking at the motors and pump sets, some with temperature (MTN/1100TCQ), this can be connected and read by a data collector, read as a DC input and scaled. The on-line applications have used the MTN/6000 system with temperature and vibration. The MTN/6000 rack can be self-contained in its own wall-mounted enclosure or fitted into existing cubicles that may be in operation in pumping stations.
